Steve looks up as they approach the sandy barrier, the rough before the green, and drives his feet harder into the ground to push with all of his energy. Dylan falls behind and rolls, but scrambles to his feet and runs hard to catch up.

The screams grow in volume and Dylan looks back to see the first waves flood around the house and over its walls towards them just as Steve starts up the engine and it screams back in response. The flare and cracks of lightning streaking across the sky light up the area and expose enough of the ocean to tell Steve that either option was probably just as dangerous.
