wait. Then opens the notebook and holds it in front of Happy’s camera. Mark looks on curiously, unaware of the setup, wondering if Steve had thought a drone to read.

Seconds later a series of flashes light up the horizon and the island is revealed as a shadow on the horizon. Streaks of violent screeching light tear up into the night sky rapidly and Mark watches in horror as they continue upwards before arcing eastward. Then disappear into the thick black clouds.

He looks down at Steve as he pieces together what he has just done. Steve just stands there smiling to himself. Then, closing the notebook with one hand, he holds the other up with his middle finger extended to give mark a response to his assertion that there was nothing he could do about it.
