Tommy continues his descent, half way down he unravels the rope and tosses it back up. Brian then looks out to make sure it’s clear and lifts Pauline onto the top of the ladder. She climbs down each rung, one at a time. She’s back to her lethargic self, slowing their advance once again. It seems to take forever but when she gets to the bottom she meets Tommy and sits on the ground relieved.

Sarah turns to Brian: I think you’re really brave for this. Thank you.

He looks back at her, trying to look as brave as she imagined him to be: Thanks kid. Now get a move on.
