Passing the rear of the service station they can see out onto the main road. The abandoned cars appear just as the usual traffic jam would look on any other day and for a moment the town seems perfectly normal.

Except of course for the smaller details. The shattered and broken windows in the cars, the blood stained road surrounding them and the occasional scream of terror in the distance possibly made by their former drivers.

They arrive at the end of the alley, facing the car park and Brian holds his hand up signalling them to stop. Then slowly peers out to check that the street is clear. He nods back to signal that it looks good and Tommy makes his way to the front with the ladder. The old man whispers to him when he gets there: Ok, its all clear here.
