wondering how to communicate back when Brian steps forward. Holding out his hand he makes a gesture as if he is writing on his palm and Steve remembers the notebook in his pocket.

He takes it out and begins to flick through his notes until he gets to an empty page at the back. Then quickly scribbles a few words and reads it back to himself. The others look on in anticipation of his message, an explanation to what they can only imagine is an unbelievable story. But he pauses, only now accepting the words for the first time. He hadn’t fully contemplated this reality, just managed each moment as it came without looking at it all in context. Now it was all very different however.
