Fragments Chapter 19 Page 42

Brian drops his eyes to the ground and the food he was eating along with it. The weight of his decision to leave his wife behind won’t leave him. It was either her or both of them though. He knows it and they know it. They will never directly mention it either, nor her name, not until he does first anyway. They eat their food slowly and Sarah takes the sandwich he dropped, wrapping it back in its paper packaging. He might not feel like eating now but he will later. It was getting cold and no misery in the world will drown out the sounds of hunger after the day they just had.
