The sound this time was mixed in with a muffled screech and then another series of screams.
They look at each other and increase the speed of their packing as they imagine the small war raging at the edge of town. The hasty panicked movements costing them more time than if they’d packed correctly, little errors made as they try to put away the tent support poles and roll the gear into small enough bundles to fit into the bags. Another explosion rings out and Sarah jumps. Then shakes her head and finishes closing the backpack.
Tommy: Well, if that doesn’t say get the hell out of here I don’t know what does. Let’s finish up and get going!
Sarah: But you said we’d wait ten minutes.
