The swarm closes in quickly though and he fires towards the leading members as he struggles to untangle himself.

His ankle is tied up with some sort of fishing line with one end secured to the tracks. Somebody had set a trap. Those humans were more of a problem than the drones after all, they might as well be on the same team. He reloads his rifle as the drones close in, firing less accurately but faster as he tries to take out as many as possible and buy himself a few more seconds to break this line and get free.

The drones fall one by one, but not fast enough and he begins to panic as they get closer. His rifle runs dry and he scrambles backwards as much as the snare will allow, looking for it in the flickering red light so he can shoot it and free himself. The drones hungrily closing in.
