Then without looking away he moves to the cash register, still staring at the manager. He looks over his shoulder as he notices something. Julie is lying on the floor out back, her throat cut. Another body lies close by and he looks at the manager with a nod to draw his attention to it. The manager looks back and then turns to look at him confused. As if everything is normal. He pays and takes the sandwiches, turning away slowly as he wonders what this part of the dream is about.

As he exits the store the sounds of crying stop suddenly. Whatever that meant was another gap he’d have to figure out and, casting it aside for his brain to process later, he walks quickly around the corner to the next doorway which has a homeless man sleeping in the entrance. He places one of the bread rolls
