Tommy looks down at him, he is upside down in Steve’s view but tilting his head to one side to normalise things a bit.
He frowns and replies: It doesn’t look like it from my point of view Steven.
Steve pushes against the bar in frustration but it won’t budge.
Tommy: Come on now, it’s only 220! I do this all the time! But if you say please I’ll help you out.
Steve is still trying to ignore him though, he has no time for mind games, even from his own mind. An imaginary spotter wouldn’t make any difference anyway, this was something he had to do using his own muscles and he thinks to himself: Contract the muscle fibres, squeeze the bar. It’s not a push, it’s a contraction.
