In an attempt to dissolve the weirdness Steve grabs a notepad and scribbles on it quickly to break the silence. He’d scattered a few of these around to make communicating with the guests easier. Holding it up for Dylan to read, the kid smiles and nods excitedly while moving quickly to climb onto a bar stool. Steve walks to the fridge and starts digging around for ingredients.

The notepad, now lying on the kitchen island counter contains a one word question he already knew the answer to: PANCAKES?
