Steve pulls the goggles up as the lamp provides enough light for him to see, and he gives a nod suggesting that the boy return to his mother. He quickly complies, running back faster than his legs can carry him.

The men look at each other startled. They want to defend their little group but just stand there frozen as Steve moves out from behind the tree and inches slowly towards them while holding a hand up. He holds his rifle away from his body to signal that he means no harm, but the men look twitchy. Understandably so, and the one with the red hair tightens his grip on the axe.

Steve isn’t here to pick a fight or steal from them however and holds his palm up to the guys. He points at the axe and lowers his rifle to the ground out to the side.
